Board Goals for 2009
- Develop stronger university brand that clearly describes the strengths of the university, students and our academic program, distinguishing Illinois State as the best university in the State of Illinois.
- Support salary enhancements to allow the university to recruit and retain the highest quality faculty and staff by bringing salaries in-line with the University’s peer group median by FY 2013.
- Support implementation of Educating Illinois.
- Continue to build strong working relationships with the students, faculty and staff through participation in activities on and off the campus.
- Initiate a planning process for a fine arts building, Milner Library, and renovation of Hancock Stadium.
- Reaffirm the Board’s strong commitment to building an institution that mirrors the diverse cultures of the State of Illinois and maintain efforts to have a welcoming and caring environment for all students, faculty and staff.
- Support and assist the President in reaching his long-term goals.
- Work with the President and the Division of University Advancement to promote ISU to alumni and a variety of external publics.
- Annually assure the smooth integration of new Trustees. Provide opportunities for Trustee’s orientation, education and training.
- Strengthen and cultivate relationships with the Illinois General Assembly, the Governor’s Office and Congress.
- Continue involvement and support of all on-going fundraising activities by the University and its athletic programs.
- Consider the long-term opportunities and costs of academic program expansion including the addition of a new professional school.
