Governing Document

The governance of Illinois State University is vested by law in the Board of Trustees. Within the limits set by the State Constitution and the federal and state laws, the Board of Trustees is the final authority in all matters affecting the institution, and it exercises jurisdiction over the institution's financial, educational, and other policies and its relation with the state and federal governments. This Board of Trustees Governing Document describes the composition, powers, and duties of the Board of Trustees of Illinois State University, as defined by Illinois Statutes, and establishes policies for the performance of its functions. In the Board of Trustees Governing Document, the Board of Trustees has delegated certain responsibilities to the President in order to provide for the accomplishment of its goals.
